Education Minister to Proclaim Media Literacy Week in Manitoba
Costumed students make their own “monsters” with makerspace technology

Who: The Honourable Ian Wishart, Minister of Education and Training; Norm Gould, President of The Manitoba Teachers’ Society; Ted Fransen, Superintendent, Pembina Trails School Division; Julie Fisher, Board Chair, Pembina Trails School Division; Bob Mauthe, President, Pembina Trails Teachers’ Association; Tara McLauchlin, ManACE Executive Member; Marina Wilson, Principal; Jennifer Bracken, Vice-Principal; Paula Jasper-Hall and Natalie Radchuk, teachers; and our creative stars – 26 members of a Grades 2 – 6 student maker and creator team.
What: Students in Halloween costumes will make and create monsters and other objects using 3-D printers and makerspace technology. The theme for this year’s Media Literacy Week is “Makers and Creators”. The event is sponsored by The Manitoba Teachers’ Society, Manitoba Education and Training and the Manitoba Association for Computing Educators (ManACE).
When: Monday, October 31, 2016 – 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Where: Dalhousie School – 262 Dalhousie Drive.
All participating students will be released for photo, video and comments.
