Featured events
Events to celebrate the week are taking place in schools and communities across Canada. Here is how the National Film Board's (NFB) CitizenShift and the Media Education Project at Guelph University will be marking National Media Education Week 2008:
October 24, 2008 - We made this!: Media for a New Generation
The NFB's CitizenShift is hosting a showing of four creative media projects featuring youth voices, as part of CBC's Montreal Matters 2008 initiative. This exciting event will bring together facilitators and participants of youth-media workshops to share and compare their work and experiences.

November 3-7, 2008 - Media Education and the Five Senses
The Media Education Project, out of Guelph University, is creating a series of podcasts that prompt us to consider the various relationships between media and the senses, and the role of the senses in critical, creative thought and ethical action. A different sense will be highlighted each day starting with the sense of sight.

Featured educators and youth
This section spotlights innovative educators and youth across the country who are making media education happen. This week's featured educator is Michael Cohen of Montreal, Quebec.
Michael, Communications and Marketing Specialist with the English Montreal School Board, organized a media panel session during last year's National Media Education Week. The session brought together students and staff from four area schools and guest speakers from local television and radio news shows and local newspapers.

Ideas to get you started
You don't need a grand event to get involved in National Media Education Week. Students, parents and teachers can participate in meaningful small-scale activities in their classrooms, homes or community centers. Need a few ideas to get you started?
